Before you start the learning it's better for you to know little about Self Access Language Learning

Here is the definition of Autonomy from some researcher

  • By : 1981 Holec (1981: 3) had defined autonomy as ‘the ability to take charge of one’s own learning’.
  • Dickinson (1987: 11) accepts the definition of autonomy as a ‘situation in which the learners is totally responsible for all of the decisions concerned with his/her learning and the implementation of those decision’.
  • Little (1990: 7) sees learner autonomy as ‘essentially a matter of the learner psychological relation to the process and content of learning’. Kenny (1993: 436) states that autonomy is not only the freedom to learn but also ‘the opportunity to become a person’.


Self access language learning centers are educational facilities designed for student learning that is at least partially, if not fully self-directed. Students have access to resources ranging from photocopied exercises with answer keys to computer software for language learning. These centers are an outgrowth of a style of learning that can go by several names: learner-centered approach, learner autonomy or self-directed learning.
