Analytical Exposition 

Definition

  • ·         Analytical exposition text is a text that elaborates the writer’s idea about the phenomenon surrounding.

Purpose:

  • ·         To persuade the reader or listener that there is something that, certainly, needs to get attention
  • ·         To analyze a topic and to persuade the reader that this opinion is correct and supported by arguments     

Generic Structure:

1.      Thesis : Introduces the topic and shows speaker or writer’s position; Outlines of the arguments to be presented.

2.      Arguments : It consists about Point and Elaboration Point, states the main argument. Elaboration: develops and supports each point of argument

3.      Conclusion : Reiteration (restatement), restates speaker or writer’s position

Language Features:

  • ·         Focus on generic human and non human participants.
  • ·         Use mental processes. It is used to state what the writer or speaker thinks or feels about something, for example: realize, feel, etc.
  • ·         Need material processes. It is used to state what happens, for example: has polluted, etc.
  • ·         Use of simple present tense.
  • ·         Use of relational processes.
  • ·         Use of internal conjunction to state argument.
  • ·         Reasoning through casual conjunction

Education plays a vital role in your success in the personal growth. The more you have knowledge the more you grow. Being educated and earning a professional degree prepares you to be a part in reputed organizations, companies or institutions.

Dickinson (1987: 11) accepts the definition of autonomy as a ‘situation in which the learners is totally responsible for all of the decisions concerned with his/her learning and the implementation of those decision’. Little (1990: 7) sees learner autonomy as ‘essentially a matter of the learner psychological relation to the process and content of learning’. Kenny (1993: 436) states that autonomy is not only the freedom to learn but also ‘the opportunity to become a person’. Self access language learning centers   are educational facilities designed for student learning that is at least partially, if not fully self-directed.
